The successful candidate will combine strong functional expertise with the ability to influence stakeholders and support ongoing finance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review end-to-end finance processes across SAP and associated energy trading platforms, identifying functional gaps, control risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design scalable and auditable finance solutions that support operational requirements, regulatory obligations and established industry practices.
  • Lead the optimisation of month-end and year-end closing processes to improve accuracy, strengthen controls and shorten reporting timelines.
  • Evaluate and enhance integrations between SAP Finance, energy trading systems and other enterprise applications.
  • Improve data integrity and system synchronisation while reducing manual processing and reconciliation requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and solution designs in collaboration with Finance, IT and solution architecture teams.
  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert across finance transformation, SAP Finance and commodity-related processes.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure system enhancements remain aligned with wider business and finance objectives.
  • Provide ongoing support for complex transactional, system and user-access issues during transformation and stabilisation activities.
  • Mentor junior analysts and guide business users on SAP Finance and Commodity Management best practices.
  • Deliver system and process training to new employees and relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification or professional certification such as CPA, CMA or SAP certification would be advantageous.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with SAP Finance (FI/CO), including substantial exposure to process design, solution architecture or system implementation.
  • Approximately 5-7 years of hands-on experience supporting energy or commodity trading processes, including physical and financial trading, risk management and commodity accounting.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale finance transformation or SAP implementation initiatives within a global trading or multinational environment.
  • Strong configuration and implementation experience across SAP Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO).
  • Deep functional knowledge of SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA Finance.
  • Familiarity with Group Reporting, SAP Analytics Cloud Planning, Receivables Management, and Document and Reporting Compliance.
  • Experience integrating SAP Finance with modules such as TSW, SD, MM, LE, HR and Payroll, preferably within an oil and gas or commodity-related environment.
  • Good understanding of SAP integration technologies, including Integration Suite, PI/PO, CPI, RFCs and BAPIs, as well as relevant data-migration tools.
  • Strong knowledge of period-end closing, financial reporting, intercompany transactions and reconciliation processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across Finance and Technology.
