About the Company
Every day, millions of Australians connect, work, stream, and stay in touch on the Optus network. When it works seamlessly, it's easy to take for granted. But behind it is a team making thousands of decisions every day - decisions that keep people, businesses and communities connected. Right now, Optus is passionate about getting the fundamentals right - simplifying how we work, lifting standards, and building a more reliable, resilient experience for our customers. It's not about surface-level change. It's about how we make decisions, how we work together, and how we deliver. The Cyber Security Lead is responsible for delivering and managing cyber security services for Optus Enterprise and Business (EB) clients, including security architecture, engineering, monitoring, risk management, and compliance activities. The role requires strong expertise across multiple security domains, client engagement, and modern security technologies, including AI and machine learning, while working closely with stakeholders to design, implement, and continuously improve security solutions and controls

- ● Evaluate, implement and optimise emerging security technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, to enhance detection, response and compliance outcomes.
- ● Maintain and improve security controls, vulnerability management, threat detection, policy compliance and client security reporting.
- ● Conduct security risk and threat assessments, develop security standards and procedures, and drive remediation activities with clients and stakeholders.
- ● Lead or coordinate end-to-end incident response for managed-service clients, including investigation, containment, recovery, post-incident reviews and continuous improvement of response playbooks.
- ● Coordinate security activities across clients and delivery teams, manage applicable compliance obligations, including ISO 27001, ISO/IEC 20000 and SOC 2, and provide threat-intelligence advisories.
- ● Strong hands-on experience with enterprise security technologies including SIEM, IDS/IPS, Endpoint Protection, Vulnerability Management, and IAM platforms.
- ● Proven expertise in security incident response, covering the full lifecycle from detection and triage through to recovery and post-incident reviews.
- ● Experience developing security processes, procedures, incident response playbooks, escalation pathways, and operational documentation.
- ● Knowledge of AI/ML-driven security capabilities, automation, and analytics to enhance threat detection, investigation, and reporting outcomes.
- ● Demonstrated ability to support project delivery, client engagements, audits, risk assessments, and security solution evaluations.
- ● Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environments.
- ● 3-5+ years of security operations experience, preferably supported by scripting skills (Python/PowerShell), security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CRISC), and familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regulatory frameworks.
- ● Competitive remuneration and employee discounts. Make life easier (and more affordable) with 80 monthly credit and 25% off Optus products and unique shopping discounts with our retail partners.
- ● Competitive leave policies, including additional 'Connected' days to focus on culture, family, health, community, or whatever's important to you.
