Specialist Cardiac Physiologist (Pacing and Cath Lab)

Responsibilities

• ● Specialist Cardiac Physiologist Leeds Hospital Cardiac Permanent Full Time Part Time Up to 56, 515 per annum depending on experience 37.5 hours per week

• ● As a S pecialist Cardiac Physiologist at our Leeds Hospital, you'll hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent), hold a r egistration to RCCP / AHCS ; demonstrate BHRS/IBHRE Devices Accreditation , and have at least two years' experience at highly specialist level post completion of devices accreditation .
• ● The post holder will perform a comprehensive range of cardiac diagnostic tests and procedures. They will be responsible for interpreting results , delivering precise, clinically relevant reports to support medical decision-makin g whilst supporting other healthcare professionals whilst fostering clinical excellence across the team.
• ● Main duties of the job
• ● Perform a broad range of procedures in the cardiac cath lab as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) including : diagnostic coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, right heart catheterisation, and PFO/ASD closures. Monitor ing ECG and pressure tracings throughout, promptly reporting any abnormalities / significant changes to the wider team.
• ● Support cardiac device implant s monitoring ECG and intra-cardiac signals to ensure accurate lead placement , promptly reporting any abnormalities / significant changes.
• ● Lead cardiac device follow-up clinics in line with BHRS guidelines, clinical governance standards, and local standard operating procedure . Assess device function, battery status , mak e clinically appropriate programming changes optimising device performance and battery longevity and maintain accurate records to support audit, service improvement, and governance.
• ● Ensure that appropriate Cardiac Device stock is available for implantation procedures .
• ● Deliver high-quality test ing, interpreting , analysis and reporting where appropriate of all non-invasive cardiology tests including: ECG's , Ambulatory ECG's , Ambulatory BP's , Exercise Tolerance Tests with all n on- invasive testing being performed and reported in accordance to national guidelines and local standard operating procedures.
• ● Timely and accurate Ambulatory ECG analysis and reporting accounts for a significant proportion of daily workload.
• ● Provide expert clinical leadership and specialist technical guidance in the implantation and follow-up of cardiac devices, serving the department and wider hospital.
• ● Act as a clinical role model, promoting evidence-based best practice to enhance care quality for outpatients, inpatients, and surgical patients.
• ● Demonstrate advanced communication skills to support patients and families and foster effective multidisciplinary collaboration.
• ● Maintain and advance clinical standards in CRM through ongoing training, and CPD.
• ● Maintaining clear communication with the Clinical HOD and monitoring daily service delivery , recommen ding improvements and a ddress ing clinical concerns promptly .
• ● Oversee stock control procedures, including standing orders, maintenance contracts, and capital equipment procurement, ensuring value and service quality.
• ● Contribute to the review and development of departmental and hospital-wide policies.
• ● Lead clinical audits identifying trends and implementing service improvements; participate in wider Nuffield audit programmes.
• ● Provide training, mentorship, and competency assessments for junior staff and other healthcare professionals.
