About the Role
As a Buying Assistant within the Home & Furniture category, you will work closely with the Buyer and Assistant Buyer to support the commercial success of the department. This is a fast-paced and varied role where you will be responsible for maintaining product and supplier information, coordinating showroom activity, supporting launches and promotions, and ensuring products are accurately represented across all customer touchpoints. Acting as a key link between the buying office, suppliers, and the shop floor, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the category.
Responsibilities
- ● Managing product and vendor administration, ensuring articles, pricing, margins, and supplier information are accurately maintained within business systems.
- ● Supporting showroom updates, product launches, and range changes by coordinating with suppliers and ensuring timely product delivery.
- ● Monitoring product setup, pricing, tickets, labels, and online information to ensure accuracy and a seamless customer experience.
- ● Building strong relationships with suppliers, store teams, stock operations, warehouse teams, and visual merchandising to support business objectives.
- ● Taking ownership of sample management, reporting, invoice resolution, stock reconciliations, and wider buying office administration.
- ● Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working - this is what we refer to as 'Hybrid'. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.
- ● Please see our Hybrid@Harrods policy on our Career Site for more information or speak to a member of our Talent Acquisition team if you have any questions regarding the requirements for this role.
Requirements
- ● You will be a highly organised and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a busy commercial environment. You will enjoy managing multiple priorities simultaneously and be confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, from suppliers to store teams. You will take pride in delivering accurate work, solving problems proactively, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. With a genuine interest in Home & Furniture, you will be motivated by supporting a successful product range and helping to create an outstanding customer experience. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, adapting quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.
- ● You'll also have:
- ● Strong numerical and analytical skills, with confidence working with reports, data, and commercial information.
- ● Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, alongside experience working with business systems.
- ● Previous administrative, buying, merchandising, retail, or commercial support experience, ideally within a product-led environment.
