About the Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the markets' tax processes (including VAT, customs & excise duty, environmental tax and other supplementary returns) are undertaken accurately, efficiently (utilising automation) and on time and the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to. The role will support the successful implementation and ongoing operation of the Global Tax processes, controls and automation tools under the new Tax Operating model. Scope of role covers reviewing or preparing VAT, customs & excise duty environmental tax, and connected returns and repots. This requires interaction with the Tax Lead, Seniors and Analysts, a number of functions including both markets and central functions with a special focus on financial controlling teams, Source to Pay and Order to Cash. The role will have a direct conversation with Tax business partners and Regional SME -s relevant for their area to provide support in audits, project and other continuous improvement related topics. The role is also responsible to oversee operational management and control to ensure accuracy and compliance during the preparation of the tax returns.
Requirements
- ● Reviewing or Preparing sophisticated VAT, customs & excise duty, environmental tax and connected supplementary returns in accordance with global standard process and controls, utilising automation tools where applicable;
- ● Compiling and ensuring accuracy and timely filing (including sign off and payment process) of VAT, customs & excise duty, environmental tax and other related reporting;
- ● Working closely with tax analysts to ensure compliance with market specific regulatory requirements and legislative changes
- ● Regularly advising Team Leader on daily issues.
- ● Being responsible to flag risks and tax saving opportunities identified during the return preparation and flag unusual or new business scenarios and comment on their tax treatment;
- ● Working closely with Tax Analysts/Financial Accountants to ensure compliance with market specific regulatory requirements and legislative changes;
- ● Reviewing / Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring these are done on time and in an internal and external control compliant way; Actively managing tax document retention for your markets;
- ● Contributing to the continuous improvement - through establishing a LEAN approach to drive effectiveness and efficiency - of the tax compliance processes
- ● Embedding and operating the new controls and KPI reports, supervising the implemented KPI-s, investigating root-cause or errors and working with end-to-end processes to improve KPIs;
- ● Ensuring 100% CARM on tax related CARM controls;
- ● Ensuring that Tax Calendar is monitored and filled-in in a timely and quality manner;
- ● Promptly responding to market queries in respect of markets in their responsibility and supporting direct tax leaders, business partners, SME-s in non-routine questions, projects, and during tax audits in their competency under the supervisory of the Tax Lead (Team leader).
- ● Ideally minimum 2-3 years' relevant tax experience in SSC and/or FMCG/Big 4 advisory environment;
- ● Previous experience at an operational level in tax, controls and risk management;
- ● Excellent communication skills able to build strong relationships with operational staff and stakeholders;
- ● Has college/university degree in finance/accounting.
- ● Strong analytical and questioning skills;
- ● Excellent business English;
- ● Good numerical skills and confident excel usage;
- ● Able to work with tight deadlines;
