About the Role

It takes a special person to be a Home Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their home and enhance their wellbeing. We are looking for just that person to join the Silverchain team in the Lake Macquarie West area.

Responsibilities

  • ● General housekeeping and making beds
  • ● Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
  • ● Washing, folding and ironing laundry
  • ● Meal preparation and grocery shopping
  • ● Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
  • ● Assisting clients to take their medications
  • ● Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
  • ● Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
  • ● Providing social and emotional support
  • ● Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
  • ● Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things

Requirements

  • ● Enjoy having variety in your day
  • ● Passionate about providing an excellent service
  • ● Can build positive relationships with clients and their families
  • ● Care about assisting our aged community members to live independently at home for longer
  • ● Don't sweat the small stuff - able to handle bad days or delays without taking it personally
  • ● Comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help
  • ● A valid Australian Driver's Licence and your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
  • ● An interest in community care or aged care

Nice to Have

  • ● Experience in community care or aged care (preferred but not essential)
