About the Role

When was the last time you made a difference in someone's life It takes a special person to be a Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their independence and wellbeing. We are looking for a person with at least 3 months experience in a similar professional role, to join the Silverchain team in the Croydon and surrounding areas. In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services and personal care services.

Responsibilities

  • ● Perform general housekeeping and make beds.
  • ● Clean, mop, and vacuum floors.
  • ● Wash, fold, and iron laundry.
  • ● Prepare meals and do grocery shopping.
  • ● Get clients out of bed, showered, and dressed for the day.
  • ● Assist clients to take their medications.
  • ● Assist with mobility and therapy goals.
  • ● Provide complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia.
  • ● Provide social and emotional support.
  • ● Provide transport to lifestyle activities or appointments.
  • ● Help the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.

Requirements

  • ● Enjoy having variety in their day.
  • ● Passionate about providing an excellent service.
  • ● Ability to build positive relationships with clients and their families.
  • ● Ability to handle unexpected situations without taking them personally.
  • ● Comfortable working independently and finding solutions, knowing when to ask for help.
  • ● Valid Australian Driver's Licence and own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
  • ● Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in personal care, manual handling, hoist training, and medications.
