Responsibilities

  • Inspect road surfaces, drainage systems, and related infrastructure to identify maintenance and repair needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities including patching, sealing, and resurfacing of roads.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as compactors, pavers, and graders in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Respond promptly to road damage reports and emergency situations.
  • Coordinate with traffic management personnel to ensure public safety during maintenance operations.
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment usage, and work completed for record-keeping purposes.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and challenges.
  • Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting on maintenance equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and properly store tools and materials.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in road maintenance, construction, or similar field-based work.
  • Proficiency in operating heavy machinery and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong understanding of road safety protocols and traffic management principles.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid Australian driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Clear communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Heavy vehicle license (HR or HC class).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Traffic management certification.
  • Experience with road asset management systems.
  • Knowledge of local road infrastructure standards and maintenance schedules.
  • Previous experience working for local government or transportation authorities.
