About the Company
Canva is a design platform that aims to redefine how the world experiences design. The Content Studio, part of the broader Content group, creates and scales visual content. Within it, the Photo and Video team defines the creative strategy for Canva's media library, sets the quality bar, and develops the tools and workflows needed to produce, enrich, and scale content globally-all supporting Canva's growing AI-enabled marketplace of templates, photos, and elements.
Responsibilities
- ● Turn creative briefs into finished AI-generated short-form videos end to end, choosing the right tools, iterating on prompts and outputs, and hitting the quality bar on time.
- ● Direct the 'shoot' through prompting rather than a camera, bringing real composition, lighting, colour, motion, and pacing craft to every piece.
- ● Build and maintain your own library of prompt techniques, references, and workflows that raise the bar on AI-generated video and can be shared with the craft team.
- ● Work within the quality, safety, and brand standards set by the AI Photography & Videography Lead, and flag risks around realism, representation, bias, or copyright as they arise.
- ● Give structured, specific feedback on AI video tools and model outputs that feeds the team's quality governance and helps improve them.
- ● Stay across the fast-moving AI video landscape (Higgsfield, Runway, Kling, Veo, Pika, and more) and bring the best techniques back into Canva's workflows.
Requirements
- ● Bring deep visual storytelling craft-composition, lighting, colour, motion, and pacing-likely from art direction, creative direction, or content production.
- ● Be a hands-on, cross-platform creator with experience using generative AI video tools such as Higgsfield, Runway, Kling, CapCut, Veo, Pika, or Sora.
- ● Have strong prompt-engineering skills, a rapid iteration loop, and a portfolio that demonstrates both.
- ● Deliver high volumes of creative content to tight deadlines without compromising quality, and independently manage an end-to-end production pipeline from a brief.
- ● Have strong creative judgement and know when an AI-generated result is ready-and when it needs another pass.
- ● Give and receive specific, craft-focused feedback, and raise risks and blockers early rather than trying to solve everything alone.
- ● Be genuinely energised by AI-generated content and comfortable working with ambiguity and rapidly evolving tools.
- ● Experience creating social-first video for platforms such as TikTok, Reels, or Shorts is a bonus, as is familiarity with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, basic Python, or prompt tooling.
