About the Company

The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School offering international education in English to 2400 students of more than 80 different nationalities who are (temporarily) living in the Netherlands and are enjoying high quality, accessible, community-based international learning. The AICS is a partly-state-funded community school, which enables us to deliver high-quality education at competitive fees. We were the first school in the Netherlands to offer the full IB continuum (IB, PYP, MYP, DP and CP) and are a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS). About the Role

For our Individuals and Societies department we are looking for a qualified Humanities Teacher with a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning, ideally with experience in the International Baccalaureate (MYP/DP). You feel confident working with integrated Geographic, Historical and Economic concepts. You would like to be part of a large school community and like to work as part of a professional team. You are able to cater for students with many different social, emotional, and educational needs, from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and countries.

Responsibilities

  • ● You will plan and organise engaging lessons while building and maintaining strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • ● You will work with integrated Geographic, Historical and Economic concepts.
  • ● You will cater for students with many different social, emotional, and educational needs, from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and countries.

Requirements

  • ● A valid teaching qualification recognised by DUO to be able to teach in a secondary school in the Netherlands
  • ● Excellent knowledge and experience of various teaching and educational methodologies
  • ● An understanding and knowledge of various cultural backgrounds
  • ● Good command of the English language and communication skills
  • ● A commitment to the school's mission to provide high-quality community-based international learning in the form of the IB programme
  • ● A resilient attitude and a good sense of humour

Nice to Have

  • ● Experience in the International Baccalaureate (MYP/DP)
