Responsibilities

  • The Music Director/Music Pastor provides spiritual, musical, and administrative leadership to the church's worship and music ministry. The role is responsible for developing a Christ-centred worship team, coordinating music for church services and special events, and creating an atmosphere that encourages the congregation to worship God genuinely and wholeheartedly.
  • Plan and lead worship for Sunday services, prayer meetings, conferences, special programs, and other church events.
  • Work closely with the Senior Pastor and leadership team to ensure worship supports the church's vision, message, and spiritual direction.
  • Select biblically sound and appropriate songs for each service.
  • Conduct regular rehearsals and ensure all singers and musicians are prepared.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop worship leaders, vocalists, musicians, choir members, and technical volunteers.
  • Provide pastoral care, prayer, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to worship team members.
  • Prepare service arrangements, song lists, keys, lyrics, chord charts, and rehearsal schedules.
  • Coordinate with the sound, media, livestream, lighting, and production teams.
  • Oversee musical equipment and report any maintenance, repair, or replacement needs.
  • Organise rosters and communicate schedules and expectations clearly.
  • Develop choirs, youth worship teams, children's music ministries, or other musical groups where required.
  • Attend leadership meetings, ministry planning sessions, and relevant church programs.
  • Manage the worship ministry budget where applicable.
  • Ensure the worship ministry complies with church policies, safeguarding requirements, and copyright obligations.
  • Must be multilingual, with the ability to communicate and lead worship in English, Swahili, French, and Hausa.
  • Able to select, teach, and lead worship songs in these languages.
  • Must hold a recognised Diploma in Ministry, Theology, Music, Worship Ministry, or a related field.
