Sentinel is a Grade 7-12 school, with a current enrolment of 285 students. Job Description and Requirements: We are looking for an innovative, creative, and flexible teacher who demonstrates a proficient understanding of the renewed BC curriculum, the K-12 Reporting Policy, and School District 8, Kootenay Lake's 2024-2029 Strategic Plan. The successful applicant will have recent experience teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies at the secondary level and be comfortable working with students across multiple grade levels.

  • ● Position Description:
  • ● This is a part-time Senior Humanities position providing coverage for a teacher on partial leave during Semester 1. The successful applicant will work a partial day on Mondays and will be responsible for teaching Social Studies 10 and English Language Arts 10 - 12.
  • ● Educational Qualifications:
  • ● A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
  • ● Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary) with a major in English or Social Studies
  • ● Recent successful experience teaching English and Social Studies at the secondary school level in the past 5 years.
  • ● Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills.
  • ● Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • ● Demonstrated ability to plan and execute multi-aged, integrated learning sequences.
  • ● Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies.
