About the Role

We are seeking a Bare Metal Infrastructure Engineer to lead on site hardware deployment for new data center locations supporting large scale AI and GPU infrastructure. This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on bringing new sites from shipment arrival through full operational readiness. You will coordinate and supervise the deployment of servers, storage, networking, cabling, and supporting infrastructure, ensuring equipment is installed, configured, tested, documented, and ready for production use. This is not a traditional systems administrator role and not a facilities-only role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working close to the hardware in live data center environments, with strong knowledge of rack-level infrastructure, server installation, cabling, power/cooling readiness, basic Linux-based troubleshooting, and cross-functional deployment coordination.

Responsibilities

  • ● Own the hardware deployment plan for new data center sites, including timelines, scope, resources, and readiness milestones.
  • ● Coordinate with vendors, logistics, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and staging of equipment.
  • ● Develop and refine deployment processes, runbooks, and checklists to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • ● Lead and execute the physical installation of servers, storage arrays, network devices, and related hardware in racks.
  • ● Perform extensive cabling (power, network, fiber) according to design specifications and best practices.
  • ● Configure initial network settings, BMC/IPMI, and other basic server configurations.
  • ● Conduct thorough hardware testing, diagnostics, and burn-in procedures to validate functionality and stability.
  • ● Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, cabling, and basic network issues during deployment.
  • ● Maintain accurate inventory records and asset tagging for all deployed equipment.
  • ● Document deployment activities, configurations, and as-built diagrams.
  • ● Work closely with network engineers, systems engineers, and operations teams to hand over commissioned infrastructure.
  • ● Provide on-site support for critical infrastructure events and escalations as needed.
  • ● Ensure all deployment activities adhere to safety standards and data center best practices.
  • ● Contribute to the continuous improvement of data center design, deployment, and operational processes.

Requirements

  • ● 4+ years of hands-on experience in data center hardware deployment, infrastructure engineering, or similar roles.
  • ● Strong understanding of server hardware (CPU, RAM, GPU, storage), networking components (switches, routers), and cabling standards (copper, fiber).
  • ● Proficiency in rack and stack procedures, cable management, and power distribution within a data center environment.
  • ● Experience with Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS) for basic configuration and troubleshooting.
  • ● Familiarity with IPMI/BMC interfaces and out-of-band management.
  • ● Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams (rack elevations, network topologies).
  • ● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose hardware and connectivity issues.
  • ● Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • ● Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
  • ● Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) as required in a data center setting.
  • ● Willingness to travel to various data center locations as needed.
  • ● Experience with large-scale GPU deployments.
  • ● Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of deployment tasks.
  • ● Familiarity with data center automation tools and orchestration platforms.
  • ● Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, CCNA).
