YOUR STORY We're hiring an AI/VFX Generalist who combines strong compositing skills with hands-on experience in generative tools. You'll work across Story's projects to create, integrate, and refine visual effects, using AI where it helps the team achieve a better result. You'll collaborate closely with directors, editors, and motion designers, bringing both technical skill and creative judgment to the finished frame.

Responsibilities

  • ● Composite and integrate VFX elements across different project types and visual styles.
  • ● Use AI tools to support cleanup, generation, and image enhancement.
  • ● Create assets with generative video and image tools when the project calls for them.
  • ● Collaborate with directors, editors, and motion designers throughout post-production.
  • ● Evaluate emerging tools and recommend approaches that improve the work.
  • ● Keep files organized and manage your workflow through final delivery.

Requirements

  • ● Strong portfolio demonstrating VFX and compositing across multiple styles.
  • ● Proficiency in After Effects, Nuke, and/or Blender.
  • ● Hands-on experience with generative AI tools such as Runway, Sora, or ComfyUI.
  • ● Ability to complete a trial project.
  • ● Based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
  • ● Degrees not required. Your work speaks for itself.
  • ● A strong foundation in traditional VFX techniques.
  • ● An experimental mindset and patience for testing multiple approaches.
  • ● Fast problem-solving when a shot needs a different technique.
  • ● Curiosity about emerging tools paired with judgment about when to use them.
  • ● A collaborative approach to making effects feel natural within the story.
