Responsibilities

  • ● As a Staff Engineer in Web Core, you will be a force multiplier. You'll work across teams and systems to remove constraints and raise the bar for how we build and run web software.
  • ● Set technical direction for parts of our web platform, and drive alignment across teams.
  • ● Identify the biggest leverage opportunities for web engineering at Pleo (quality, delivery speed, reliability) and execute on them.
  • ● Partner with product engineers and leads to design solutions that fit the wider ecosystem.
  • ● Build and evolve internal tooling, frameworks, and golden paths that scale across teams.
  • ● Improve the reliability and usability of our CI and local developer workflows.
  • ● Coach and mentor engineers, and help grow technical leadership in the frontend community.
  • ● Contribute hands-on in code. This role blends strategy and execution. You should expect to be coding a meaningful part of the time.

Requirements

  • ● Building and maintaining complex web applications at scale.
  • ● TypeScript and modern frontend engineering (React experience is a plus).
  • ● Designing maintainable systems (including frontend-facing APIs and platform boundaries).
  • ● Testing practices and tooling (unit, integration, end-to-end) and a strong quality mindset.
  • ● CI/CD and developer productivity improvements (faster, more reliable feedback loops).
  • ● Observability and monitoring practices for web systems (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting).
  • ● Working effectively across teams and stakeholders, and communicating tradeoffs clearly.
