About the Role

The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for implementing, optimising, and monitoring cyber security operations to safeguard NHVR's IT infrastructure, architecture, and systems. Working within clearly defined security frameworks and NHVR's Cyber Security Roadmap, the Cyber Security Engineer applies technical expertise and data-driven processes to identify, mitigate, and monitor risks in a dynamic cyber threat landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard NHVR's critical assets, systems, and data from evolving cyber threats by implementing measures outlined in the Cyber Security Roadmap and relevant frameworks.
  • Leverage IT Service Management (ITSM) tools, such as ServiceNow, to document, track, and resolve cyber incidents, adhering to ITIL principles.
  • Perform assessments of systems and processes to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions to reduce risks.
  • Manage technical security controls, including email security gateways, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, endpoint protection solutions, and SIEM platforms.
  • Investigate and respond to potential security threats, coordinating with the SOC and relevant teams to mitigate risks to NHVR's operations.
  • Conduct security reviews of digital initiatives before implementation, ensuring these comply with aligned frameworks (such as Essential Eight, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST).
  • Support and contribute to penetration testing, phishing simulations, and IT security assessments to ensure operational resilience.
  • Maintain and optimise incident response playbooks and ensure processes remain aligned with best practices to enable efficient and consistent responses.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the secure administration of cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS) and IT infrastructure (e.g., Windows/Linux servers, firewalls, VPNs, and DLP tools).
  • Hands-on experience in implementing security technologies from well-known vendors.
  • Working knowledge of framework alignment principles (e.g., Essential Eight, ISO/IEC 27001, ITIL) to ensure NHVR's tools and processes adopt globally recognised security standards.
  • Skilled in risk and vulnerability management processes to identify and remediate operational-level risks.
