An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Cyber Security Analyst to support the delivery of secure, resilient and compliant technology environments across a diverse portfolio of client engagements and internal operations. The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for identifying, assessing and managing cyber security risks that may impact information systems, networks and data assets. The role plays a critical part in monitoring security events, investigating threats and vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, and supporting the implementation of effective security controls. Working closely with clients, technical teams and business stakeholders, the Cyber Security Analyst provides practical security advice, contributes to risk and compliance activities, and supports the ongoing improvement of cyber security maturity and operational resilience. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to communicate complex security issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • ● Monitor, analyse and respond to cyber security incidents, alerts and security events using monitoring and detection tools.
  • ● Investigate suspicious activities, malware infections, phishing attempts, potential data breaches and other cyber security threats.
  • ● Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation activities to reduce risk across ICT infrastructure and information assets.
  • ● Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of cyber security policies, standards and procedures.
  • ● Support security awareness initiatives and provide practical cyber security advice to stakeholders.
  • ● Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate security controls to protect networks, systems and data assets.
  • ● Prepare security reports, incident documentation, findings and recommendations for management.
  • ● Assist with compliance activities and audits relating to information security frameworks and cyber security standards.
  • ● Collaborate with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders to improve cyber security posture and maturity.

Requirements

  • ● Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, technologies, threats and vulnerabilities.
  • ● Experience with security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management and risk management practices.
  • ● Understanding of network security, endpoint security, cloud security and information security controls.
  • ● Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain cyber security risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • ● Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environme
  • ● Relevant qualification in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
  • ● Industry certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, CEH or equivalent are desirable.
  • ● Experience with SIEM platforms, threat intelligence tools, security frameworks, and Australian cyber security standards is desirable.
  • ● Experience working within government, public sector, or highly regulated industry environments.
  • ● Familiarity with Australian cyber security frameworks and standards, including the ACSC Essential Eight, ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISM, or PSPF.
  • ● Knowledge of cloud security technologies and platforms, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • ● Experience conducting cyber security awareness initiatives, training programs, or stakeholder education activities.
  • ● Experience with penetration testing coordination, security assessments, or third-party security reviews.
  • ● Understanding of privacy legislation, information management obligations, and cyber security compliance requirements within Australia.
