About the Role
Can Assist is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Manager in the day-to-day financial operations of our not-for-profit organisation. This role offers the opportunity to gain broad exposure across finance functions while contributing to an organisation that makes a meaningful difference in the community. Responsibilities
- ● Reconciling bank statements, investment accounts, and resolving discrepancies
- ● Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
- ● Preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations
- ● Assisting with payroll administration and processing
- ● Assisting with month-end close processes
- ● Supporting the completion of tax compliance and lodgment requirements
- ● Providing support to the Finance Manager during audit processes
- ● Contributing to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures
Requirements
- ● A relevant accounting qualification or currently studying Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- ● Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- ● Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- ● Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines during busy periods.
- ● Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- ● Intermediate Excel skills.
- ● Experience with Xero, MYOB or similar accounting software.
