About the Company

A fast-growing Australian group is seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead its finance function across a complex, multi-entity portfolio. The group operates across carbon project development and trading (including an AFSL-regulated advisory business), agribusiness, and a number of early-stage incubated ventures, each with its own structure and regulatory profile. Reporting to the CFO and leading a team of 3+, this is a senior role for someone who can bring clarity, control and simple, repeatable processes to a fast-moving environment, while supporting growth, governance and investment-readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a growing, multi-disciplined finance team, setting clear standards and holding the team to account.
  • Establish and maintain financial controls, cost management frameworks and risk monitoring across a varied portfolio of entities.
  • Oversee consolidated and entity-level financial statements and tax disclosures in line with Australian accounting standards, including intercompany eliminations and consolidation.
  • Ensure compliance across BAS, income tax, FBT and payroll tax for all group companies.
  • Deliver accurate, timely reporting to the CFO and executive team, including P&L, cashflow forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Partner with operational leaders, external accountants, auditors, regulators and finance providers in a solutions-focused way.
  • Identify and implement improvements to finance systems, policies and reporting, including the use of automation and AI tools.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in financial accounting and at least 7 years in a senior financial accounting or similar role.
  • CA / CPA membership (or working towards), or similar.
  • Demonstrated team leadership within a multi-entity, complex organisation.
  • Advanced Xero and advanced MS Office 365, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools to streamline finance workflows.
  • Australian citizenship or the right to work in Australia.
  • Apply now with your CV and a short cover letter. All applications will be treated in strict confidence.
