Responsibilities

We are a European AI lab for the quantum era, co-founded by pioneers behind IQM and Silo AI, with a team spanning MIT, UC Berkeley, Cambridge, and Carnegie Mellon, and backed by the founders of Skype, Hugging Face, Quantinuum, Supercell and many more. We work at the intersection of quantum computing, AI, optimisation, and simulation, where the answers do not yet exist and the work genuinely matters.
  • ● Role Description
  • ● As Senior Security Engineer, you will be the hands-on owner of security across Qutwo's engineering and infrastructure. You will work closely with our infrastructure and engineering teams to design, build, and run the controls that keep our platforms secure, and you will lead the technical side of our certification and compliance work as the company scales.
  • ● Network Security: Design, configure, and maintain firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and IDS/IPS.
  • ● Host Hardening: Harden Linux systems using SELinux, AppArmor, and secure baseline configurations.
  • ● Identity & Access: Implement and maintain AAA, IAM, and access controls across our infrastructure and cloud environments.
  • ● Security Monitoring: Deploy and operate SIEM and logging tooling, build detections and alerts, and investigate security events.
  • ● Vulnerability Management: Run scanning, patching, and remediation across our infrastructure.
  • ● Incident Response: Lead the technical investigation and remediation when security incidents occur, and help build the incident response framework.
  • ● Automation: Use infrastructure-as-code and scripting to keep configurations consistent, repeatable, and auditable.
  • ● Certification & Compliance: Implement and evidence the technical controls behind certifications such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2, and support gap analyses, audit readiness, and work with auditors. Help ensure we meet GDPR, NIS2, the EU AI Act, and emerging European AI regulations.
  • ● Security Governance & Risk: Help shape security policies, standards, and the risk register, and carry out security risk assessments and vendor security reviews.
  • ● Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside our infrastructure, engineering, and IT teams, setting security requirements for what Qutwo builds and the cloud platforms we run on, and making sure they are met.

  • ● Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in network security, security operations, or infrastructure security.
  • ● Strong practical experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.
  • ● Deep Linux knowledge, including hardening with SELinux and/or AppArmor.
  • ● Scripting and automation skills (e.g. Python, Bash) and experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
