About The Area UWA is making significant investments in the Information and Technology Services area to enable its strategic direction and goals. Cybersecurity is one of these areas and is undergoing an uplift in capability and delivery of new services to align with the University's risk strategy. The Cybersecurity & Technology Risk unit provides risk governance, architecture & design assurance, and operational governance to all aspects of the cyber security domain, from network security, platform security, application development, cyber awareness and education, and security operations. About The Opportunity As a senior member of the Cybersecurity & Technology Risk team, you will provide expert cyber security advisory and assurance services across a diverse portfolio of technology initiatives. You will work closely with project teams, solution owners, developers and operational stakeholders to assess cyber risks, evaluate security controls and embed secure-by-design principles into solutions from concept through to deployment. Operating as a trusted advisor, you will help shape secure outcomes across cloud, infrastructure, applications and modern deployment pipelines while ensuring initiatives align with UWA's cyber security framework and risk management objectives. You will also lead security assessments, assurance activities and governance initiatives that strengthen the University's overall cyber resilience.

Requirements

  • Relevant post graduate qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting security assessments, assurance reviews, control validation activities or secure-by-design reviews across cloud, infrastructure, application and DevSecOps environments is highly desirable
  • Extensive experience providing cyber security advisory, assurance or consulting services across complex technology environments, including cloud, applications, infrastructure and modern deployment pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, ASD ISM) and the ability to apply these frameworks pragmatically to support risk-based decision making and secure outcomes.
  • Relevant industry certifications, including SABSA Foundations, TOGAF, CEH, CISSP, CISM or other security/control certifications are desirable
