As part of the SAP Enablement organization, the SAP Basis DevOps Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and automation of Maersk's SAP platforms that support critical business operations across global landscapes. We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis DevOps Engineer to join our SAP Platform team. The role combines deep SAP Basis expertise with modern DevOps practices, focusing on platform engineering, automation, operational excellence, reliability, security, and continuous improvement across SAP landscapes. The engineer will be responsible for managing, optimizing, automating, and securing SAP systems running on-premises and cloud platforms while enabling faster and more reliable delivery of SAP services.

Responsibilities

● Manage and support complex SAP landscapes including:
● SAP S/4HANA
● SAP ECC
● SAP BW/4HANA
● SAP Solution Manager
● SAP Process Orchestration (PO)
● SAP Web Dispatcher
● SAP HANA and Oracle databases
● Ensure platform availability, performance, security, and compliance.
● Lead incident resolution, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.
● Manage SAP transports, system refreshes, client copies, kernel upgrades, and patching activities.
● Plan and execute SAP upgrades, migrations, and technical lifecycle management activities.
● Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and self-healing capabilities for SAP operations.
● Develop and enhance automation for:
● SAP start/stop operations
● System health checks
● Monitoring and alerting
● Routine Basis administration activities
● Backup validation and recovery testing
● Support CI/CD practices and deployment automation for SAP platform services.
● Leverage automation platforms, scripting, and orchestration tools to improve operational efficiency.
● Improve platform resilience through proactive monitoring and performance optimization.
● Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and operational dashboards.
● Participate in on-call support and major incident management.
● Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning exercises.
● Execute SAP security patching and vulnerability remediation initiatives.
● Support compliance requirements, audits, and security assessments.
● Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to implement secure platform standards.
● Manage SAP workloads hosted on Azure, GCP, or other cloud environments.
● Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
● Maintain backup and recovery strategies for SAP HANA and Oracle databases.
● Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize compute, storage, and network resources.
● Identify opportunities for service improvement and standardization.
● Contribute to monitoring modernization, dashboard automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
● Document technical procedures, standards, and operational runbooks.
● Mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps best practices.
● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
● 7-10+ years of SAP Basis administration experience.
● Hands-on experience supporting at least four SAP technologies/products.
● Strong experience supporting large enterprise SAP environments.

Requirements

● SAP Certification in Basis, HANA, S/4HANA, or related technologies.
● Experience with SAP automation platforms and AIOps capabilities.
● Knowledge of Solution Manager frameworks including:
● Technical Monitoring

● Data Volume Management
● SAP EarlyWatch
● Work Center Dashboards
● Knowledge of SSO, SAML, and authentication technologies.
● Basic ABAP troubleshooting knowledge.
● Experience managing global, business-critical SAP environments.

● Improve automation coverage and reduce manual operational effort.
● Drive continuous improvements in system reliability and performance.
● Ensure timely execution of security and compliance requirements.
● Contribute to engineering excellence and platform modernization initiatives.
● Enable faster, safer, and more reliable SAP service delivery through DevOps practices.
