About the Company

Molex Malaysia is seeking a Process Engineer (NPI SMT & Automation) to support new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development within an SMT environment. This role develops, optimises, and sustains manual, semi-automated, and automated assembly processes to improve productivity, quality, and cost performance while supporting successful product launches and manufacturing readiness. You will be part of the CCS Manufacturing Engineering team in Penang, working closely with Product Design, MXCD, Project Management, System Engineering, Automation Engineering, Quality, Operations, Production, Sourcing, and external suppliers. Together, the team drives successful NPI industrialisation, manufacturing excellence, automation implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives across operations. Develop, optimise, and sustain manufacturing processes, including SMT, reflow ovens, wave soldering machines, and solder paste printing equipment. Support NPI projects by ensuring process readiness, equipment qualification, and manufacturing capability. Participate in engineering reviews and implement process improvements to support new product introductions. Collaborate with Product Design, Automation, Quality, Operations, and Suppliers to develop robust manufacturing solutions. Support the development of tooling, fixtures, automation equipment, and assembly modules from concept through implementation. Conduct process studies, validation activities, and capability evaluations to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency. Prepare documentation, including Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and validation reports. Ensure processes comply with safety, quality, and engineering standards. Support continuous improvement and standardisation initiatives across manufacturing operations. Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4-5 years of experience in NPI builds, process engineering, automation development, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Knowledge of SMT processes, soldering processes, assembly processes, automation equipment, tooling, and manufacturing engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methodologies such as DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and process validation techniques.
  • Experience using CAD tools such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks for tooling and fixture reviews.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimise complex manufacturing processes.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design, engineering drawings, and automation equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with SMT process design, fixture or tooling review,
