About the Company
NCI is a nationally significant research infrastructure capability supported through NCRIS and a network of major collaborating organisations, including the Australian National University, CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology, Geoscience Australia, the University of New South Wales and the NSW Government. Operational funding and strategic capital investment are provided through a combination of Australian Government investment, partner contributions and service-based revenue. NCI is hosted by the Australian National University and governed by a Board comprising representatives of collaborating organisations together with independent members. While operating within the University's governance framework and complying with relevant ANU policies and statutory obligations, NCI serves a national mission on behalf of the Australian research and innovation community. The Director is accountable to the NCI Board for the effective stewardship of NCI's resources, the delivery of its strategic objectives, and the performance of the organisation. The Director works closely with the Board Chair and the ANU Pro Vice- Chancellor (Research Infrastructure and Entities) through the Executive Panel to implement Board strategy, support effective governance, and ensure alignment between NCI's national mission and its operational delivery. The position requires extensive engagement with government, research institutions, industry partners, international collaborators and funding agencies. The Director is expected to represent NCI and contribute thought leadership on the future of advanced computing, data infrastructure, artificial intelligence, digital research platforms and related national capability priorities.
