About the Role

The Architect will provide critical guidance to interpret and clarify design intent, ensure technical alignment, drive issue resolution, and maintain end-to-end solution integrity across the Retail domain. This role requires deep expertise in SAP Retail processes, strong architectural leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, multi-vendor program environment while aligning to Endeavour's architecture principles, clean-core standards, and long-term technology roadmap. Responsibilities

  • Location: Sydney or Melbourne (Hybrid - 3 Days in Office)
  • Step into a business-critical position driving the technological roadmaps for some of Australia's most iconic retail portfolios (including BWS and Dan Murphy's).
  • Develop and maintain the long-term architecture strategy, target state, and roadmap for the overall Retail domain.
  • Continuously assess and integrate emerging retail technology trends into long-term planning to keep EGL competitive.
  • Act as the primary architectural authority for EGL's retail operations, guiding investment decisions and capability planning.
  • Maintain data quality and authoritative systems of record for retail applications and dependencies in Ardoq.
  • Own the end-to-end Retail architecture across SAP S/4HANA and integrated systems .
  • Lead the architectural design and end-to-end delivery oversight for major strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain architectural integrity and alignment to EA principles, clean-core standards, SAP extensibility frameworks, and cyber & identity requirements.
  • Review and approve detailed design documents, functional specifications, technical specifications, and interface designs.
  • Provide strict architectural governance and oversight throughout the Build phase, ensuring the solution is developed in accordance with the approved design.
  • Interpret and clarify existing solution designs for delivery teams across build, integration and testing phases.
  • Validate RICEFW components for alignment with integration patterns, extensibility guidelines, and downstream impacts.
  • Support cross-functional teams (retail, supply chain, finance, data, integration) in resolving build-related issues.
  • Ensure dependencies with external systems (Woolworths, BY, Store systems, Supplier Portal, etc.) are well understood and managed.
  • Lead the technical validation of end-to-end Retail scenarios in SIT and UAT cycles.
  • Provide architectural input and oversight into cutover planning, including Retail data migration sequencing, store readiness, and integration cutovers.
  • Validate Day-in-the-Life (DITL) scenarios to ensure the Retail solution is operationally sound ahead of go-live.
  • Act as the primary Retail architecture escalation point for complex program-wide issues.
  • Drive pragmatic, timely resolution of design gaps, technical constraints, and integration challenges.
  • Ensure Retail changes are assessed for downstream impacts and communicated effectively across impacted streams.

Requirements

  • Foundational Education & Frameworks
  • Architecture Frameworks: Strong working knowledge of TOGAF or similar frameworks, with the ability to apply these principles pragmatically within an Agile delivery environment.
  • Agile Methodology: Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) or Scrum, specifically the role of architectural runway in supporting sprint-based delivery.
  • Enterprise Platforms: SAP: Certifications in SAP S/4HANA
  • Exposure to SAP BTP, AEM/Event Mesh, Datasphere.
